How to get to Munich

By plane:
Munich Franz Josef Strauss International Airport is a hub for international air traffic. The airport is situated about 30 km northeast of Munich but has an excellent train service to the city, which takes less than 40 minutes. The suburban railway (S-Bahn) station for the S1 and S8 lines to the city is located directly underneath the central area of Munich Airport. S-Bahn trains to Munich city run at 20-minute intervals.
Attention! Please note that a 4-day ticket for public transport for the inner circle of Munich is included in the conference registration fee and will be distributed at registration. This ticket will be valid from Monday morning 6 April 2009 onwards.

If you arrive at Munich Airport and need to get to the hotel you will need to buy your own ticket. You can buy the ticket either at a ticket counter or at a vending machine, you need to buy an Adult 1-day ticket for All Zones / Gesamtnetz (entire network) which will cost Euro 10.

By Train:
Munich is the main hub for southern Germany with many ICE (InterCity Express), IC (Intercity) and EC (Eurocity) connections within Germany and throughout Europe. The Munich Hauptbahnhof is Munich's main train station. The S-Bahn lines S1 to S8 all stop at the underground beneath the station. The U-Bahn lines U1, U2, U4 and U5 also stop at the train station. With 4 tram lines stopping outside Munch Hauptbahnhof you have a great range of public transport options for getting into and around the city.

By Car:

By public transport:
The hotel is conveniently located in the Haidhausen district of Munich, east of the city centre and easily reachable by public transport. The hotel can be reached in just 25 minutes using the separate airport line (S 8), which is a 1-minute-walk away from the hotel (exit stop "Leuchtenbergring"!).

By car:
From Stuttgart A8 to Munich ring road A99: follow up to Kreuz Munich - north, then into A9 direction Munich. Take exit ring Middle East and follow ring for about 5 km, the hotel is on the right side. From A9 coming from Nuremberg leave highway at exit Middle-Ost and follow ring for about 5 km, the hotel is on the right side. From Salzburg A8 highway to direction Munich centre. At end of highway turn right on the Middle Ring (direction Fair) and follow for about 5 km. The hotel is on the left side. From the A95 motorway Garmisch to Middle Ring South, follow the signs to Passau. After about 10 km the hotel is on the left side. From the A96 motorway Lindau leave motorway at the end follow the signs for Highway Nuremberg. At Olympic site follow Middle Ring to hotel on the right side. Parking is available at the hotel for Euro 8 per day.

The conference location will be the Amt für Ländliche Entwicklung Oberbayern of the Bavarian State Ministry for Agriculture and Forestry, Infanteriestrasse 1, Munich. The conference location is easily reachable from the hotel with public transport.


By public transport:
We recommend to use public transport to get to the conference location. You either take the subway U2/U8 and get off at the exit stop Josefsplatz now it's just a few hundred meters walk. Or you take the buss line 154 which stops right opposite to the ALE or the tram line 20/21. More information will be provided on site in Munich.
